Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the Arab Ministerial Meetings on Syria, which began on Sunday in Riyadh. The meeting continues the Aqaba Ministerial Meetings on Syria (Aqaba Summit), which took place in Aqaba, Jordan, on December 14, 2024.
Sheikh Abdullah attended the meeting to examine general events in the Syrian Arab Republic and measures to strengthen regional and international efforts to ensure Syria’s unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the security and stability of its people.
Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the significance of coordinated regional, international, and UN efforts to support the Syrian people at all levels, achieving their legitimate aspirations for long-term security, stability, prosperity, and development.
He also restated the UAE’s staunch support for Syria’s independence and sovereignty over all of its territory, emphasising the necessity of unity and cohesion among Syrians to establish a unified, stable, and secure Syria free of terrorism and exclusion. The UAE’s top diplomat also welcomed Geir Pedersen’s work, underlining the need to provide full support and assistance to the UN envoy in leading a comprehensive and inclusive political process that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people for security.
