Tirmizi, Faisal Niaz. According to Pakistan’s ambassador to the UAE, the UAE and Pakistan have collaborated on women’s empowerment for decades in various fields, which has improved initiatives and programs meant to give women more chances in the workplace, in education, and in health.
The Ambassador conveyed his satisfaction in the First Lady of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, attending the Global Women’s Forum Dubai 2024, which emphasizes the importance of women as leaders in social, political, and economic advancement.
On the margins of the Forum, which came to an end today at Dubai’s Jumeirah, he told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that his mother was the first woman from the Islamic world to be elected prime minister and that Pakistan was the first nation in South Asia to do so.
He noted that in Pakistan, the first female speaker of the National Assembly was elected, and that there are currently 22 female ambassadors out of 80 ambassadors worldwide, as well as women in leadership roles like the Additional Foreign Secretary and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Despite these successes, he said, Pakistan is still working to increase the presence of women in various sectors.
