After Kyiv attacked an Iranian cargo ship in the Caspian Sea on Saturday, Ukraine rejected Iranian vows of reprisal. On Saturday, Ukrainian forces scored “very good results” in long-range strikes in the Caspian Sea, including on ships carrying military supplies connected to Iran, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), its drones struck a Russian missile boat, an oil facility in the northern Caspian Sea, and “cargo ships that are under international sanctions.
The “Anna” ship was anchored approximately 5 kilometers (3 miles) from the mouth of the Volga River when it was attacked, according to Kazem Jalali, Iran’s ambassador to Russia, who spoke to Iran’s official news agency. Yevgen Korniychuk, the ambassador of Ukraine to Israel, stated that the ship was transporting drone and missile parts from Iran to Russia rather than civilian goods.
