Deadly Ukrainian Strikes Target Russian Online Retail Warehouses

According to Russian officials, Ukrainian drones attacked two warehouses owned by Russia’s largest online store, Wildberries, resulting in eight fatalities and sixty-two injuries. A warehouse in the city of Tambov, some 295 miles (475 km) southeast of Moscow, resulted in seven fatalities and 25 injuries. At another Wildberries facility near Elektrostal in the Moscow area, there was one fatality and thirty-seven injuries.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, “major logistics facilities” that were utilized to “supply sanctioned components for drone production and navigation equipment” were hit by the assaults. Additionally, he said, Ukraine has attacked targets in the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, and Russian-annexed Crimea. Images from one of the warehouse strikes showed dozens of workers fleeing into a parking lot while flames and massive plumes of black smoke rose from a large logistics building.

Some films show injured and scared employees trying to escape while the explosions continue, suggesting that the attacks began at night. Another video seems to show a warehouse’s walls collapsing as flames consume them. According to Zelensky, “Russian strikes on our civilian infrastructure and on our cities and communities” were the reason behind Ukraine’s actions. 14 people were killed in Russian assaults throughout Ukraine overnight and into Wednesday.

Many people refer to wildberries as the Russian version of Amazon. Forbes Russia estimated the combined RWB group, which includes Wildberries and the advertising firm Russ, to be worth roughly $12.6 billion (£9.3 billion) in 2026.
