With a significant spike in sales occurring around the close of the year, Dubai Duty Free announced a new annual sales record of Dhs7.901 billion ($2.164 billion) for 2024, starting the New Year on a high note.
With sales of Dhs821.944 million ($225.190 million), December broke previous records and saw a 2% growth over the same month the previous year. Dubai Duty Free’s 41st anniversary celebrations, which included a 25% discount on December 20th, served as their impetus. Throughout the 24-hour period, shoppers spent Dhs59.993 million ($16.436 million). Strong sales in November 2024, which were also greater than in the same month the previous year, came before this result. In December, the category with the best performance was confections.
We had a terrific November and December, and the last week in December was particularly good with the staff pushing hard to get beyond 2023’s record year,” said Ramesh Cidambi, Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free, in his reflection on the year. I am quite pleased with how the year has gone, even with all of the significant remodeling and refurbishing that has occurred.
Our Chairman, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, has given me a lot of support, and I join His Highness in thanking our front and back office staff, our suppliers, and our customers for helping us have another fantastic year.” Over the year, the business logged over 20.733 million sales transactions, or 56,649 transactions on average daily.
