Protesting farmers, primarily from Punjab, who had assembled at the Haryana interstate border in support of the “Delhi Chalo” foot march, called off their march for one day on Friday, claiming that six of them were hurt in an altercation with security personnel.
They declared that they were prepared to discuss their demands with the Center without conflict with the government, including a legal guarantee for the minimum support price (MSP) for crops and a forgiveness of loans.
Following a meeting with Haryana government officials at the protest location, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher addressed the reporters at the Shambhu border, “We have called off ‘jattha’ and not the march to Delhi on Saturday.” There are six injured farmers. They have been exposed to tear gas.
Farmers, he claimed, have remained disciplined. “Why be hostile against farmers? Why put an end to peaceful protests by farmers? “Farmers are prepared to speak with the Center,” Pandher stated.
“Why is the government treating us like an enemy nation?” he said. We have sacrificed a great deal for the country and are its citizens.
Regarding the protest’s next phase, he stated, “On December 8 at 12 p.m., a ‘jattha’ of 101 farmers will march towards Delhi. Discussions with the central government have been scheduled for tomorrow.
