With 1,400,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) handled in July, DP World’s Jebel Ali Port broke the previous record for monthly container throughput set in 2015.
This comes after the port had a great first half of 2024, handling 7.3 million TEUs, up 3.9% year over year. This was primarily due to strong inbound cargo movement from important Asian markets like China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.
Another essential factor influencing container traffic through Jebel Ali Port is the continuous growth of Jafza. Jafza is home to almost 10,500 businesses today, and it continues to draw major global companies, increasing trade volumes and economic diversification.
The Chairman and CEO of DP World Group, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, stated: “Jebel Ali has been a catalyst for the growth of trade and the economy in Dubai and the wider region for over 45 years.” Being one of the biggest and most effective ports on the planet, it continues to be a vital component of our international network and greatly enhances both regional trade and Dubai’s economic goals. We are dedicated to expanding on this success, fostering innovation, and fortifying Dubai’s standing as a preeminent hub for international trade.
