We started the interview by asking, “Explain your background and your organization in detail.”

Dr. Liza Nicholson replied, “Our mission is to improve the health outcomes of those we serve. We promote health and wellness by supporting healthcare organizations in providing accessible, equitable and efficient quality healthcare.

Avail Management Services was founded on the idea of transforming healthcare service delivery by providing global healthcare management services.

Our healthcare management provides leadership and direction to organizations that deliver health services by planning, directing, and coordinating clinical and non-clinical procedures and programs within hospitals, health care systems, academic institutions, health networks, homecare, and community health organizations.

We are redefining what a healthcare management organization can be—from large multi-hospital systems and academic institutions to smaller community hospitals and private physician practices— We passionately help transform organizations for the future by delivering innovative healthcare consulting, cost management planning, and sustainable quality improvement clinical strategies globally.

Question: Why did you start “AVAIL MANAGEMENT SERVICES”?

Dr. Liza Nicholson replied, “Witnessing insufficient resources and inadequate access to basic health care services while growing up in a rural area were key motivators behind the inception of Avail Management Services. Even years later after college, I continued to see communities faced with some of the same challenges of limited funding, a shortage of healthcare professionals, and limited access to health information technology among many other gaps in healthcare, so I was inspired to expand my individual consulting services into a brand that could make a global impact by supporting community and healthcare organizations improve service delivery and health outcomes.

Over the last several years, we have expanded as a company and our strategies have shifted based on demand, but we are proud that the dedication to the mission of enhancing accessible, equitable and efficient quality healthcare remains constant.”

We understand that no two organizations are alike in how they plan to deliver programming or services, so we thoroughly assess their needs and aid them in developing an implementation strategy that propels them towards business success and sustainability.”

Question: What are the primary goals and initiatives that AVAIL MANAGEMENT SERVICES aims to pursue to continue improving healthcare operations and quality over the next few years?

Dr. Liza Nicholson replied, “Our primary initiatives aim to protect and improve the health of people and communities, so over the next few years we plan to continue to make these key areas a priority among our premiere services of global healthcare management consulting while staying current on industry trends: Focusing on people – and the direct and indirect impact we can have on enhancing health outcomes through the expert management of healthcare programs, operations and reporting; Being adaptable – as the healthcare landscape is ever-changing, it’s imperative that we embody flexibility – for both our internal team and clients as we work with an array of organizations from hospitals to higher education institutions; Being digitally innovative – by amping up our footprint in digital healthcare to meet the variety of possibilities that can improve the quality of patient care and operations; and lastly by introducing innovative grant review services for non-profit organizations to our portfolio.” We will continue to be at the forefront of enabling organizations to flourish while supporting the transformation of global healthcare.

Challenges in Leadership

Lastly we asked, Dr. Liza Nicholson “What have been the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome during the journey of your leadership?”

Dr. Liza Nicholson replied, “The emphasis and challenges of work-life balance, I can recall early on in my career, the implementation of boundaries, or more so adherence to them, were a challenge for me, but I have come to the realization that there is no true balance. Some days will be more work centered and some days will be more life/family centered, but for me, I now prioritize health and family because the quality time I spend with my family and the time I reserve for recharging empowers me to be better in my role as a public health professional and entrepreneurial leader.”
