We recently had the opportunity to interview De’Shon Swafford and Monroe Willis, Founders of MoonRock PM, a tech company designed to cater to DIY Landlords for efficient property management. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by small landlords in managing their properties, the founders designed MoonRock, a user-friendly and cutting-edge software solution that helps them manage their properties more effectively. With a commitment to enhancing the lives of landlords, the founders have added new features to the Moonrock PM app, including a Vendor section, Digital Leasing, and Looking for Funding, making the processes more seamless than ever.
The Beginning
We started the interview by asking, “Can you share your career journey and what led you to your current position?”
De’Shon and Monroe shared, “Our journey began as maintenance workers at our apartment complex, gaining firsthand experience in the inner workings of a software system that manages a property. As family members of landlords, we recognized the challenges faced by small landlords and set out to design a user-friendly and efficient software solution to help them manage their properties more effectively.”
The Making Of MoonRock PM
We were interested to learn more about the key moments that shaped their business approach at MoonRock.
“At the heart of our mission lies a commitment to enhancing the lives of both landlords and tenants. We firmly believe in the importance of customer discovery and designing an app that simplifies and streamlines the management process for everyone involved. By engaging with landlords, we strive to create a positive experience for both parties, as a happy tenant often leads to a satisfied landlord.” They responded.
More About Moonrock PM
We asked, “Can you share about the features of your app, Moonrock PM.
The founders explained, “Our app, Moonrock PM, is available for download on both the App Store and Google Play. New users will automatically have the latest version of the app once they download it from the App Store and Google Play. And, we have also added new exciting features to the app, including – Vendor section, Digital Leasing, and Looking for Funding.
With the Vendors feature, we are now allowing vendors to sign up and be a part of the Moonrock PM Family. They can sign up as a vendor and grow their business. So if you do yard work, plumbing, electrical, etc., join Moonrock and grow with us. This also helps the landlord by finding vendors in the area where their properties are.
With the next feature Digital Leasing, we have leasing in all 50 states. Being easy to use and super quick, the leasing will automatically be filled out during the sign-up process for new users. Existing users will see the leasing agreement and all users will have to go to the tenant page where they can sign and download the leasing agreement. And lastly, under Looking for Funding, we have partnered with a lending company to help landlords purchase their next property. We now have 500+ lenders across the United States that can help with funding to purchase your next property.”

We asked both founders to share their take on managing long-term goals while handling daily operations.
De’Shon and Monroe explained, “We envision a broader impact and the potential to make a significant difference in the global real estate industry. To achieve our goals, we break them down into smaller, achievable milestones, gradually building towards our ultimate objective. Our work transcends our ambitions; we are developing a tool that could revolutionize the way property management is conducted worldwide.”

Addressing the aspect of the latest technologies, we asked De’Shon Swafford and Monroe Willis to share their vision of its impact on their industry in the next five years.
“In the next five years, we anticipate that our technology will become a game-changer, disrupting the current landscape of property management with its cost-effectiveness and automation capabilities.” They mentioned.

We encourage each other to excel in our professions and to grow as individuals, constantly striving to improve and surpass our previous achievements.”

“To aspiring entrepreneurs, we urge you to never lose hope or succumb to fear. Keep pushing forward, never giving up on your dreams. Remember, failure is not an inevitable outcome if you refuse to quit. Embrace the fear and take bold steps towards your aspirations. Chase your dreams relentlessly.” They responded.
