Travellers transiting through Dubai’s airports can now complete passport-control processes without stopping at a traditional counter, thanks to the formal debut of a new mobile service that enables police to process passengers using portable devices.
The ‘Click and Travel’ service delivers passport-control procedures directly to passengers, employing biometric technologies, face recognition, electronic passport reading, automated checks and secure communication to verify traveler information swiftly and accurately.
The service is offered to UAE nationals, residents, GCC nations, and visitors, and it is applicable to both arrival and departure procedures. Saeed Ahmed Saeed, Deputy Assistant Director of Air Ports Services at Dubai Airports, stated that the service signals a transition from a fixed passport-control platform to a mobile one that can serve travellers wherever they are.
Today, you are transitioning from a fixed passport platform to a mobile passport platform that goes to the passenger to finish their travel procedures,” he said.The device allows authorities fast access to passenger information and connects directly to official databases through a secure network, allowing procedures to be completed quickly without a typical fixed counter.
