Six Days After the Earthquake in Venezuela, a Three-Year-old Was Saved And Sent to the Hospital

Six days after the deadly earthquakes in Venezuela, a three-year-old boy was rescued alive from the debris, according to a Jordanian rescue team. According to temporary President Delcy Rodríguez, the youngster, identified as Klieber Morán, was rescued from wreckage in La Guaira state. The child’s rescue was called a “source of hope for our people” by Rodríguez.

Tens of thousands of people are in critical need of food and shelter, the UN said. 1,943 people have died as a result of last week’s earthquakes, which had magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5. Over 10,000 people were injured, and tens of thousands more are still missing.

An initial analysis of NASA’s satellite data indicates that 58,870 buildings were likely damaged or destroyed by the shocks. According to the Jordanian civil defense, Klieber received first assistance, was transported to a hospital, and his vital signs were normal. According to Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Venezuelan Assembly, he was receiving treatment in Caracas, the country’s capital.
