US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Thursday that the US began additional attacks on “multiple targets” in Iran overnight, hours after US President Donald Trump threatened the US would hit Iran “hard”.
CENTCOM stated that the strikes were launched “in response to Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression. Iranian state-run media reported explosions in western Tehran, Kish island in the Strait of Hormuz, Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Qeshm, and Minab, while air defense was stated to be active in Fars province.
According to Mehr, further skirmishes between US forces and IRGC marine units have occurred in the strait. On Wednesday, Trump stated that Iran’s peace negotiations “keep playing us for suckers” and threatened to resume attacks.”We are going to attack them very hard,” Trump told reporters in Washington.
We were so close to a deal, but they kept dragging us along, playing us for suckers.
The words in the Oval Office follow Trump’s previous statement on Wednesday that Tehran has taken too long to negotiate a deal over the Middle East war and would now have to pay the price.
