According to the Passport Index, the United Arab Emirates’ passport remains the most powerful for the fourth year in a row. It received a total score of 180 points, allowing its inhabitants to visit more than 90% of the world’s countries.
A total of 133 countries accept UAE passports without a visa, while 47 provide the option of acquiring a visa on arrival. In comparison, only 18 nations require visas to be obtained in advance.
Spain was ranked second on the list, with 179 points, putting them ahead of Germany. Spanish citizens are allowed to enter 134 countries without a visa and can obtain visas upon arrival in 45 countries. However, they must get advance visas for 19 countries, putting them below the UAE in terms of ease of access.
European countries continued to dominate the rankings, holding the top 18 positions. Finland was ranked ahead of France and Italy in third place, but France, with 178 points, maintained its position as the G20’s strongest passport.
Both the United States and the United Kingdom saw their rankings drop. The United Kingdom, which was rated in the top ten in 2017, dropped to 32nd place after losing ten spots.
