Here are Three Things we Discovered After Learning More About Amazon and Apple’s AI Initiatives

This week, Wall Street received financial updates from the largest IT companies in the world, including Microsoft, Meta, Google, Apple, and Amazon. They all have one thing in common: they intend to keep investing enormous sums of money on artificial intelligence (AI). Investors’ response was that they needed to see more concrete outcomes for the $1 trillion (£743 billion) and increasing investment in things like data centers, computer chips, and even technical personnel. In recent days, that caused some tech stocks to go on a wild ride.

Even though each business works in a distinct industry, their intentions and expenditures on AI revealed some more similarities. The current AI investment race began with OpenAI’s release of ChatGPT in late 2022, and since then, every significant tech company has introduced a consumer-facing AI chatbot of their own. Google has Gemini, while Meta has Meta AI. Rufus is available on Amazon. Siri was even reintroduced by Apple. Despite being expensive to develop, none of the chatbots or the associated technologies by themselves obviously generate a significant amount of income for the businesses.
