On the second day of a state visit intended to strengthen the close relations between Britain and Italy, King Charles and his wife, Queen Camilla, welcomed crowds as they toured the Colosseum and Roman Forum on Tuesday. As he continues his illness treatment, Charles is traveling abroad for the first time this year and is making his 18th official visit to Italy.
Alongside Italian President Sergio Mattarella, Charles and Camilla attended the rare combined flypast between the Italian Frecce Tricolori and British Red Arrows aerobatic teams at the Quirinale Palace.
As he displayed a picture of the planes flying over the center of Rome with multicolored smoke trailing behind them on his phone, British traveler Jonathan Smith stated, “It is important to have good relations with European countries.”The royal visit is perceived as part of London’s continuous attempt to lessen the pain of the Brexit divorce with its former EU allies, as Britain left the EU in 2020.
When asked about the royal visit, British tourist John Forde near the Colosseum stated, “I think it is great for the Anglo-Italian relationship, particularly given the current climate around the world.
