His Majesty Sharjah’s ruler and Supreme Council member, Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, was present when the eighth Desert Theatre Festival got underway on Friday.
Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the deputy ruler of Sharjah, was present at the event, which is scheduled to take place in the Al Khohaif neighborhood of Sharjah until December 17.
Sheikh Majid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of the Suburbs Affairs Department; Sheikh Mohammed Bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Head of the Statistics and Community Development Department; and Sheikh Salem Bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Head of the Ruler’s Office, along with a number of high-ranking officials and artists, welcomed His Highness.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah saw his own theatrical production, “The Robe Dyed in Blood,” which is a three-act play that tells a portion of the life of the Arab poet Bashir Bin ‘Awana. The festival site is an open theatrical space that celebrates Arabian desert environments, traditions, and authentic and creative heritage through the aesthetics of theatrical art and performance. This masterpiece, which began with the dramatic moment when he attempted to marry his cousin Fatima, demonstrated his daring, pride, emotions, eloquence, and clarity of speech.
