“World Children’s Day reminds us that the truest measure of a society lies in how it values its children — not just through words but through action,” stated Hanadi Saleh Al Yafei, Director-General of the Child Safety Department (CSD), in honor of the day. The topic for this year, ‘Listen to the Future,’ is an appeal to incorporate our children’s goals into creating a better tomorrow, not just a request to hear their voices. Children are not merely observers in our environment; they are creators of the future, possessing wisdom and concepts worthy of our utmost regard and consideration.
Al Yafei went on to say, “It is our sacred responsibility as parents, teachers, and leaders to establish spaces where kids feel heard and empowered. Listening is transforming, not passive. It fosters creativity, increases self-esteem, and fortifies relationships. Above all, it ensures kids believe they can make a difference in their own lives and communities.
“On this day, we go beyond celebration to reflection and resolve,” she said in closing. Are we providing them with the stage they merit? Are we upholding their rights as universal, non-negotiable principles? We must all pledge to help them realize their goals and achieve their objectives. Our children’s voices are the blueprints for a better, more equitable future, not merely hints of optimism.
