Four eateries and cafés were closed by the inspection team of the Dibba Al Fujairah Municipality. Additionally, the relevant authorities seized six tonnes of foodstuffs that were deemed inappropriate during extensive inspection campaigns that focused on eateries, cafés, and food establishments.
The Director of the Dibba Al Fujairah Municipality, Eng. Hassan Salem Al Yamahi, disclosed this information. He continued by pointing out that the municipality has responded to 43 reports of violations by food establishments and carried out 1,285 inspection tours since the start of the year, indicating that the municipality’s concern for consumer health is the reason for the campaigns’ intensification.A number of infractions were found during the monitoring process, such as the workers’ non-existence of health cards and certificates and their disregard for the mandate that they wear gloves, head coverings, and uniforms. In addition, there were reports of spoilt and expired food, and the establishments did not follow the required standards for the cleanliness of the kitchen and food preparation areas. The appropriate penalties were correctly imposed.
He went on to say that in order to stop such infractions in the future, a set of control measures should be implemented. The health control department ought to oversee these actions. The public’s health is negatively impacted by the facility’s disregard for food safety regulations. Food safety and consumer health are impacted by this.
