Four young patients—two, seven, four, and ten years old, respectively—have had successful testicular tissue cryopreservation (TTC) surgeries at the Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center (ADSCC) before receiving bone marrow transplants to treat their conditions. One of the boys was diagnosed with leukemia, and the other with thalassaemia, both of which were immunodeficiency disorders.
ADSCC’s dedication to offering comprehensive, cutting-edge care for young patients and advanced pediatric bone marrow transplant care is demonstrated by the first-ever launch of this unique medical advancement in the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi’s position as a world leader in healthcare and life sciences is further cemented by the success of these procedures, which support the Emirate’s continuous healthcare accomplishments.
The young boys had to have high-dose chemotherapy and whole body irradiation before receiving a bone marrow transplant. The possible hazards of these therapies for the future fertility of their children were thoroughly explained to the parents. The doctors at ADSCC described how testicular tissue cryopreservation will help the children become more fertile in the future.
