Turkey has suffered dramatically as a result of its assistance for Pakistan. In June, when the number of Indian visitors to Turkey is often at its greatest, the number of Indian tourists visiting the country fell by 37%. This comes after Indians have shunned the nation after Operation Sindoor exposed its overt backing for Pakistan.
Only 24,250 Indian visitors traveled to Turkey in June, according to official tourism statistics. This represents a roughly 37% decrease from the 38,307 Indian tourists who traveled there in the same month the previous year. 31,659 Indian tourists traveled to Turkey in May, a decrease from 41,554 Indian visitors in May 2024.
This is in light of Turkey’s assistance to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, which was made public on May 9 when India disclosed that its neighbor had attacked using drones manufactured in Turkey.
These were Turkish-made SONGAR ASISGUARD drones, according to the wreckage that India was able to retrieve. The Turkish military forces are using this, their first domestically produced weaponized drone. Earlier last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed Parliament that during Operation Sindoor, just three of the 193 United Nations members favoured Pakistan, with the other countries siding with India.
