The musician, who was born in California to Polish parents, performed for the first time at the age of four and had her orchestra debut in Paris at the age of seven. She performed for five US presidents and even performed a four-hand Mozart duet with Harry Truman at the White House. She was renowned for her flawless technique and musical intelligence.
Slenczynska released her last album in 2022 and continued to play until her 90s. Shelly Moorman-Stahlman, a former student of hers, told the BBC that she passed away quietly in an assisted living home in California.The singer and educator said that Slenczynska’s health has deteriorated following several falls, saying, “Tonight, heaven gained a very special angel.
Moorman-Stahlman reported that during recent visits, “she was particularly energetic and mentally clear” and even “played the piano one day.”She “assigned” me the Mozart Concerto in A M[inor] to study and bring to her the next time we met after we talked about a recent orchestra performance. She is always a teacher.” But after another fall, she “passed away peacefully” in the company of friends, including Randy, Moorman-Stahlman’s husband.
