Billionaire Bill Gates told a congressional committee on Wednesday that he never had a personal relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, and that he severed ties with the convicted sex offender when he failed to deliver on fundraising for the Microsoft founder’s charitable initiatives.
Gates willingly attended a closed-door session in Washington with the House Oversight Committee investigating Epstein, and he reportedly mentioned powerful individuals Epstein sought for donations.
He also revealed his marital infidelities, claiming Epstein used them to put pressure on him.
According to panel members, Epstein was a “friend collector” who interacted with people like Gates in order to “project power and influence”.
Gates stated in his opening statement that he had no knowledge of Epstein’s ongoing criminal activities.I never visited his island, ranch, or Florida home. “I have never victimized anyone,” he stated. “While he may have sought to foster a personal relationship, I was never interested in that and never reciprocated.” He also expressed optimism that “the survivors of Epstein’s crimes can get the justice that they deserve”.
