Trump Claims US-Iran Deal will be Inked on Sunday, While Tehran Raises Doubt on the Timing

President Donald Trump has stated that an agreement to settle the US-Iran conflict will be signed on Sunday, after Iran questioned the timetable. In a social media post, Trump stated that the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime route, would be “open to all” once the deal is reached. Pakistan, a crucial mediator, also stated that the agreement was likely to be finalized within 24 hours and that they were “preparing for the electronic signing.

Before Trump’s remarks, Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei raised concern about the timing, saying: “We will have to wait and see about the exact date of the signing of the memorandum of understanding, although it will not be tomorrow.”

Trump posted on Truth Social, “The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL. In an apparent allusion to Iran’s enriched uranium stocks, Trump stated that “at the appropriate time, when all is calm, we will go in and get the Nuclear Dust,” which would then be destroyed.

For decades, Western countries have accused Iran of attempting to develop a nuclear bomb. It has refuted the claims, claiming that the programme is for peaceful objectives, including as generating electricity and doing research.
