A family escorted by the Israeli military was prevented from returning to their homes, which had been taken by settlers weeks earlier, when more than 100 Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian community in the occupied West Bank.
In Monday night’s raid in Jalud, south of Nablus, two homes owned by the al-Tubasi family were set on fire, and settlers also targeted Israeli security personnel. Human rights organisations claim that the incidents demonstrate how Israeli authorities are not doing enough to stop settler violence.Words cannot express how terrible it was. After Israel’s High Court ruled earlier this month that they must be let to return, Al-Tubasi, 60, his wife Aida, 51, and their 33-year-old son, Wael, returned to their properties with Israeli forces. Al-Tubasi claimed that at around midnight, he received a call informing him that his family’s return to their homes was being coordinated with Israel’s military. Israeli officials sent him a message stating that he needed to go right away with the army and Israeli border police if he wanted to retrieve his goods.
