Due to the UAE’s solid reputation in business and tourism and the rise in travel demand, national airlines operating in the country are increasing the number of destinations they serve.
According to the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), passenger traffic is expected to reach 140 million, which is in line with UAE airlines’ continued expansion and competitiveness.
According to official data, UAE national carriers now fly to about 606 global locations, including cargo and joint routes. This represents a 3.4% increase from the 586 destinations they flew to at the end of 2023. The destinations are broken down by carrier as follows: flydubai has 125 destinations, Air Arabia has 218 destinations, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has 40 destinations, Etihad Airways has 79 destinations, and Emirates has over 144 destinations.
Since the start of the year, Etihad Airways has been bolstering its network in preparation for its planned expansion to over 125 destinations by 2030. With this expansion plan, it hopes to reach over 33 million passengers annually by taking advantage of its advantageous location sandwiched between Asia and Europe. The airline launched 15 new routes last year, including Lisbon, Copenhagen, Calcutta, and Osaka stops. This year, it plans to add a few more destinations.
