Federal authorities have said they are looking into Leaker Boeing following a whistleblower’s repeated complaints about two widebody jet models and his allegations that the corporation was retaliating against him.
Boeing engineer and whistleblower Sam Salehpour claims that the company made corners when building the 777 and 787 Dreamliners, raising the possibility of disastrous consequences as the aircraft age. The New York Times first reported the whistleblower complaint.
His official Federal Aviation Administration complaint, submitted in January and made public on Tuesday, does not specifically address the more recent 737 Max aircraft that the FAA has twice grounded.
According to the FAA, voluntary reporting without fear of retaliation is essential to aviation safety. “We strongly encourage information sharing among all parties involved in the aviation industry.”
Next week, a Senate subcommittee will have a hearing wherein the concerns will be discussed.
Boeing refuted Salehpour’s worries over the 787 but did not immediately respond to the allegations regarding the 777.
The business stated in a statement, “These claims regarding the structural integrity of the 787 are inaccurate and do not represent the thorough work Boeing has done to ensure the quality and long-term safety of the aircraft.
