On October 1, 2024, the United Arab Emirates published Federal Law Decree No. 25 for the year 2024, which governed the economic activities and occupations of Gulf nationals in the nation. According to the law, Gulf nationals will be treated as UAE citizens when engaging in economic and professional activities within the nation, with the exception of those activities and professions that are determined to be exempt by the Council of Ministers or the Supreme Council of the GCC.
Additionally, the United Arab Emirates issued Federal Law Decree No. 26 for 2024, which repeals seven federal laws: Federal Law No. 3 pertaining to national planning in 1973; Federal Law No. 10 pertaining to the National Bank for Investments and Development in 1974; Federal Law No. 13 pertaining to the establishment of the Urban Planning Authority in 1980; Federal Law No. 2 pertaining to the establishment of the General Authority for Marketing Agricultural Production in 1981; Federal Law No. 4 pertaining to scholarships and study grants in 1984; Federal Law No. 17 pertaining to the fight against commercial concealment in 2004; and Federal Law No. 11 for the regulation of the use of government housing in 2007.
According to the second article of this decree, study grant decisions and provisions issued in accordance with Federal Law No. 4 of 1984 that are being implemented at the time the decree is put into effect are still valid as long as they continue to meet the requirements for their continuation.
