Trump Suggests That in Order to Assist in Rebuilding Iran, the US May need to Relax its Oil Sanctions

In order to aid in the nation’s reconstruction, President Donald Trump hinted on Wednesday that the United States has not relinquished its utmost pressure on Iran, including prohibitions on the export of Iranian oil.

To get that nation back on track, they will require funding. When asked if he was lifting oil sanctions on Iran during a news conference at the NATO Summit, Trump responded, “We want to see that happen.” After Israel and Iran reached a truce, Trump indicated a day earlier that China could keep buying Iranian oil. However, the White House later stressed that his remarks did not mean that US sanctions would be loosened.

Trump levied rounds of penalties against China for buying Iranian oil, targeting a number of China’s independent “teapot” refineries and port terminal owners. A day earlier, Trump said that China could keep buying Iranian oil since Israel and Iran had reached a ceasefire agreement. However, the White House later stressed that his remarks did not mean that U.S. sanctions would be loosened.
