Indian sportswear startup Agilitas Sports and Indian cricketer Virat Kohli have partnered. The agreement was revealed in a post on X on Monday. He stated that a “new journey” for his lifestyle brand One8 and Agilitas was starting in the article. Inspired by his jersey number 18, One8 has a number of business endeavors, including the One8 Commune restaurant chain and an athleisure brand that was originally created in collaboration with Puma.
Abhishek Ganguly, the former Managing Director of Puma India and South-East Asia, launched Agilitas Sports in 2023. Since signing Kohli to Puma in 2017 for a reported Rs. 110 crore (US $12.23 million), Ganguly has worked closely with the player. The One8 lifestyle-athleisure brand was initially created under this collaboration.
In April, Kohli broke his ties with Puma, turning down an eight-year contract allegedly worth Rs. 300 crore (US$33.36 million) in favor of acquiring Agilitas. He stated in a video released with his announcement that he felt “it could become something big” and wanted to be engaged when Ganguly described the company’s production skills, personnel, and expertise. The items are “designed by people of our own, made here,” he continued. Agilitas, the firm which will spearhead One8’s retail expansion throughout India and other markets, will now house the company under the new arrangement.
