US President Donald Trump has revealed stock market transactions totalling millions of dollars made in July, ranging from tech and artificial intelligence behemoths like Microsoft to companies like Elon Musk’s SpaceX. Official records indicate that Trump sold Microsoft stock for between $6.5 million (£4.8 million) and $31 million, while acquisitions ranged from $165,000 to $400,000.
According to the report, shares of software business Palantir, a contractor with the US defence department and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and AI startup Nvidia were bought and sold over the course of more than 1,000 deals. According to a White House official, other parties independently manage Trump’s stock and bond holdings. The spokesperson said to the BBC: “Neither President Trump nor any member of his family has any ability to direct, influence or provide input regarding how the portfolio is invested or when investments are bought or sold.”Conflicts of interest do not exist.
The petition claims that thousands of dollars’ worth of stock were also purchased and sold in SpaceX, the rocket, satellite, and artificial intelligence business run by Musk, a former head of the US Department of Government Efficiency. In June, SpaceX listed its shares on the Nasdaq stock exchange in the United States.
