Following Iran’s first-ever direct attack on the nation, Israel closed its airspace on Saturday night. In retaliation for a raid on Tehran’s consulate in Damascus on April 1st that claimed the lives of several senior Iranian commanders, Iran deployed drones and missiles into Israel. Although Israel has not officially acknowledged carrying out the consulate strike, it is generally accepted that it did.
However, it said that flights to Beirut and Tehran would remain suspended until at least 18 April. A spokesperson said: “The Lufthansa Group had already decided on Friday, 12 April, to fly around Iranian airspace up to and including Thursday, April 18 April, and thus temporarily suspend flights to Tehran.
