After being raped in Bangladesh, an eight-year-old girl passed away on Thursday from her wounds, sparking intense demonstrations across the nation. According to a case her mother filed, the girl was raped somewhere between the evening of March 5 and the following day while she was at her older sister’s home in Magura.
The 18-year-old husband of the older sister was taken into custody and placed on remand, along with his brother and parents. The house where the incident is said to have occurred was set on fire by an enraged crowd on Thursday night when they learned of the child’s death.
Following three heart arrests, the girl passed away on Thursday at around 13:00 local time (07:00 GMT), the government’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) agency said in a statement.
Although medics managed to stabilize the condition twice, the heart failed to restart following the third event,” the statement stated. After being admitted on March 8, she was critically ill for six days at the Combined Military Hospital in the capital city of Dhaka.
