In The US Justice Department’s Accident Investigation, Boeing Will Not Face Charges

According to the US Department of Justice, Boeing will sign a non-prosecution agreement in connection with the two 737 Max disasters that claimed hundreds of lives. The deal spares Boeing from an impending fraud trial that may have led to the US defence contractor and aviation behemoth being classified as a criminal. As part of the agreement, the business acknowledges impeding federal aviation inspectors and agrees to pay $1.1 billion in fines. 346 individuals were killed in the 2018 and 2019 accidents.

The administration said that after speaking with crash victims’ relatives, many of them were in favour of the agreement or did not object to it. However, some victims’ families have harshly attacked the accord.

The attorneys for plaintiffs suing Boeing issued a statement in which Javier de Luis, whose sister perished in the 2019 Ethiopian tragedy, voiced his indignation at the ruling.

The action’s message to businesses nationwide is to not bother about ensuring the safety of your products for consumers. He said, “Just pay a small fine and move on, even if you kill them. The families want to persuade the court to reject the agreement, according to Paul Cassell, an attorney for the victims’ family. This kind of non-prosecution deal is unprecedented and wrong for the deadliest corporate crime in US history,” stated the president.
