KFC will Boost Expansion in Ireland and The UK by Creating 7,000 Jobs

As competing fast food chicken restaurants like Wingstop threaten to steal a larger market share, KFC has announced intentions to add 7,000 new jobs throughout the UK and Ireland.

A portion of the approximately £1.5 billion the fried chicken company is spending over five years will go towards opening new restaurants in “key locations” including north-west England and Ireland, where it first launched a British restaurant in Preston sixty years ago. Every year, fried chicken companies in the UK and Ireland get billions of pounds from their customers.

KFC unveiled its strategy as rivals, such as Popeyes, which gained notoriety for catering to singer Beyoncé and rapper Jay-Z’s wedding in 2009, open locations in Britain and Ireland.

It stated that it will invest close to £500 million in 500 new locations and renovate current stores. The bulk of its more than 1,000 restaurants in the UK and Ireland are presently run by franchisees. According to the fast-food giant, the 7,000 new positions it plans to add in the UK and Ireland would comprise managers, servers, and kitchen-related positions.

According to the company, it would invest in its supply chain to “strengthen long-standing relationships” like those with McCormick in Buckinghamshire, which produces the fast-food restaurant’s gravy, and Pilgrim’s Europe, which is situated in Warwick.
