The major bank assured Khaleej Times on Saturday that sending money from the UAE to India, Pakistan, the Philippines, and three other countries through the Emirates NBD DirectRemit service will remain free.
This comes after Emirates NBD emailed its customers on Friday to let them know that, as of September 1, 2025, they would be charged Dh26.25 (VAT included) for international transfers conducted using the app or online banking, including DirectRemit. The bank spokeswoman told Khaleej Times in a statement that Emirates NBD is still dedicated to providing our esteemed clients with easy and affordable banking options. Emirates NBD DirectRemit Transfers to India, Pakistan, Egypt, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and the UK will remain free for all Emirates NBD clients as part of this promise.
This implies that nothing will change, as using the DirectRemit services through the app to send money to these six countries with a minimum transfer of Dh100 will not incur any additional costs.
Emirates NBD is expanding its DirectRemit offerings to over 30 new countries,” the spokesperson added. “This will allow customers to benefit from near real-time transfers and eliminate correspondent bank fees, as they will only be charged a small transfer cost of up to Dh26.25.
