Caitlin Clark Smashes Record Again, this Time with a Rookie Card

Caitlin Clark’s 2024 WNBA rookie card, autographed by the Indiana Fever player herself, sold for $660,000 (£491,116), more than double the existing women’s record. Extended bidding began at $336,000 before skyrocketing to the final sale price at the auction hosted by memorabilia and trading card company Fanatics Collect.

Clark’s signature is inked in blue on the one-of-a-kind Rookie Royalty WNBA Flawless Platinum Logowoman card, which also includes a photo of her mid-dribble, bloodied shin. Clark amassed a tremendous fan base as a once-in-a-generation women’s collegiate basketball player, and the buzz of her fans has followed her to the WNBA.

Clark’s had previously held the record for the highest-selling women’s sports card, selling for $366,000 in March. The card, which sold on Thursday night, contains her portrait, autograph, and a patch from her Clark’s Fever outfit from when she played.

It also includes the phrase “769 pts and counting,” which Clark wrote in reference to the rookie scoring record she shattered last year. Clark currently has 14 cards showing her that have sold at public auctions for prices considerably beyond her season salary of about $80,000. She has been out of the game since July 15 due to an injury, and her club has stated that there is no timetable for her return as the season progresses.
