Florida Wants to Ban Vaccination Requirements for Students

Florida wants to be the first state in the United States to repeal all of its vaccination laws, many of which require children to receive vaccinations against polio and other diseases in order to attend public schools.

Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo, the state’s top health officer, compared the regulations to “slavery” when he announced the intentions on Wednesday. He answered, “Who am I to tell you what your child should put in your body?” “I’m not right about it. God has given you your body as a gift.

Officials in Florida did not provide a timeframe or specifics on the mandates’ termination. The state health department can eliminate some, while others can only be abolished by a vote of the Republican-controlled state legislature.

But during his press conference, Ladapo repeatedly vowed to put a stop to “all of them, every last one of them.”

Physicians and health organizations have repeatedly criticized the surgeon general, accusing him of disseminating false information on vaccines, while his employer, Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, opposed Covid-19 vaccination requirements.

Among those who denounced the idea to terminate all mandates as “reckless and dangerous” was Democratic state lawmaker Anna Eskamani. This is a health care disaster in development for the Sunshine State,” she wrote on X.
