A UAE Minister Tells Euronews, “Iran Must Not be Permitted to Hold the Global Economy Hostage

Lana Nusseibeh, the minister of state for the United Arab Emirates, praised the European Union’s assistance since the beginning of the Iran war and made a plea to the world to compel Tehran to release its grip on the crucial maritime channel, the Strait of Hormuz. Iran must not be allowed to hold the global economy hostage by its rogue state behavior,” Nusseibeh stated in a comprehensive interview with Euronews in Abu Dhabi.

During the interview, Nusseibeh emphasized that “globally, about 20% of the world’s energy supplies travel through that narrow waterway,” warning that the disruption of the waterway between Iran and Oman would have far-reaching effects.

The UAE minister stated, “If that is disrupted, it has an impact on not only global energy prices but global food security and food supplies, and that will impact bills in grocery stores, bills in petrol stations, and the price of food,” during an interview with Euronews on 12 Minutes With.

Nusseibeh emphasized the UAE’s dedication to international energy markets by adding that the nation is still making consistent efforts to address the growing global energy issue.
