The US Disputes Iranian Claims That Rockets Hit a Warship

An Iranian media story that one of the US’s warships was hit by Iranian missiles while attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz has been refuted by the US. According to a statement from US Central Command (Centcom), “no US Navy ships have been struck” and “enforcing the naval blockade on Iranian ports” is what the military is doing.

It happened when two missiles struck a US Navy vessel passing through the strait after disobeying an Iranian Navy warning, according to Fars, the semi-official Iranian news agency. Later, Centcom reported that two commerce ships flying the US flag had “successfully transited” through the strait.

Iran’s military had already threatened to assault any foreign forces, especially the aggressive US army, if they crossed the Strait.A senior Iranian source told Reuters that Iran had fired a warning shot at the US vessel to stop it from entering the strait, although it’s unclear if any damage was done.

Additionally, Iranian media said that on Monday, it stopped Israeli and American “enemy destroyers” from crossing the strait. US President Donald Trump had previously declared that the US will start attempting to liberate cargo ships that Iran had stuck on Monday.
