Amidst the devastating wildfires in the south of France, George and Amal Clooney have fled their house. Earlier last week, actor Clooney, his wife, a human rights attorney, and their two kids departed their Brignoles home. He wrote: “We have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment” to Didier Brémond, the mayor of the city. Clooney went on to say that he and his spouse were determined to assist in rebuilding their community “whatever happens” following the fires. The family received French citizenship in December 2025 after purchasing their Brignoles property in 2021.
The letter, which was shared with the BBC, said: “Dear Didier, At this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment and as we evacuate Brignoles we want to emphasise two things, first we hope you and the people of our city are safe and second that Amal and I are committed to making sure that whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and we’ll be part of making it whole. “We adore Brignoles and our local pals. The Préfet du Var declared an evacuation of some neighborhoods on Wednesday at 20:00 local time (18:00 GMT) after a fire broke out close to Brignoles. Wildfires have destroyed parts of France.
