Instead of Six Months, the Minimum Validity term for Passports will be one month, allowing violators to Change the status of their Visa in the UAE.

The passport validity time that is necessary to approve a request to change the status of overstayers from six months to just one month during the amnesty period has been modified by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Ports Security (ICP).

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of ICP, has stated that the six-month passport validity period previously applicable to residents, visa violators, foreign nationals born in the nation, and individuals on administrative lists has been reduced to one month.

According to him, the goal of the ruling is to give overstayers the option to change their status without having to renew their passports if they will be staying longer than six months, as was the case previously.

Al Khaili emphasised that the ruling would allow overstayers to benefit from the unique chance presented by the amnesty, and that this exception would only be in effect from September 1 through October 31, 2024, when the amnesty is in effect.

He emphasised that the move shows the ICP’s desire to find practical answers to the problems that the amnesty’s recipients confront and urged overstayers to get in touch with the organization’s call centre to discuss their concerns and issues.
