Emirates Airlines representatives confirmed to Khaleej Times that the shutdown of Terminal 1 at Delhi Airport on Friday did not affect any flights operated by UAE Airlines.
Airlines based in Dubai said that there is no impact on their flights. According to a Flydubai representative, while Emirates is not operating out of Delhi Terminal 1, their flights to and from Delhi are running on time.
Etihad Airways, based in Abu Dhabi, operates flights out of Delhi Airport’s Terminal 3. “The closure has no bearing on our flights. However, given the bad weather in Delhi and the fact that flights are being diverted from the affected terminal to T3, we anticipate airport congestion,” the Etihad representative stated.
When possible, we encourage our visitors to check in online, arrive early, and drive safely to the airport.”
A section of the canopy at Terminal 1’s departures area collapsed at 5 a.m. due to heavy rains, according to a statement from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport shared on social media by X. According to Indian media, the incident, which involved departure gates 1 and 2, resulted in one death and six injuries. There were also four damaged cars.
The authorities cancelled flights from Terminal 1. Two regular flights from low-cost airlines SpiceJet and IndiGo to the United Arab Emirates were canceled.
