After sharing and later removing a social media message that Republicans said was an invitation to violence against US President Donald Trump, former FBI director James Comey was interrogated by the US Secret Service.
Comey was not detained and willingly took part in the hour-long interrogation at the law enforcement agency’s headquarters in Washington, DC. It happened one day after he shared a picture of seashells spelling the number “8647” on Instagram. Although “to reject” and “to get rid of” are two definitions of the slang phrase “86,” it has more recently been used to signify “kill.” The 47th US president is Trump.
Trump stated that Attorney General Pam Bondi will decide whether Comey should face prosecution. Amid criticism from conservatives, Comey removed the seashell photo she uploaded on Thursday.
In a follow-up Instagram post, he claimed to have observed the shells “which I assumed were a political message” while out for a stroll on the beach.I had no idea that some people connected such figures to violence. I never thought of it, but I removed the post since I’m against any forms of violence.
