Russia unleashed major overnight drone and missile strikes on the Ukrainian capital and surrounding areas, killing at least 12 people in Kyiv, including two children, according to officials.
According to Ukraine’s emergencies service DSNS, the victims’ remains were recovered from the debris of a partially demolished apartment building in Kyiv, where rescuers are still looking for at least 20 individuals who are thought to be missing.
Two children were among the 45 injured, according to the report. The city has designated Friday as a day of mourning. As Moscow intensifies its attack following the expiration of a three-day ceasefire on Monday, Ukraine has confirmed killings for the third day in a row.
According to President Volodomyr Zelensky, the nation was the target of 56 missiles and over 670 drones during the midnight assault. Since the beginning of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Russia has launched some of the biggest attacks.
Zelensky stated that more than 180 locations throughout Ukraine were affected by the strikes, including more than 50 residential structures. He said that since Tuesday night, over 1,560 Russian drones have attacked Ukrainian cities. He called Moscow’s attack “definitely not the actions of those who believe the war is coming to an end” and urged allies to hold Moscow responsible.
