A UAE delegation, led by Dr. Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of State, visited Brussels, Belgium, for meetings with senior European Union (EU) officials and Belgian government members to strengthen economic ties, promote investment opportunities, and identify areas for future collaboration.
The European Union is the UAE’s second-largest worldwide trading partner, accounting for $67.6 billion in non-oil trade in 2024, up 3.6% from 2023 and 18.1% from 2022. The EU presently accounts for 8.3% of the UAE’s total non-oil international trade.
During his meeting with Maros Sefcovic, EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Al Zeyoudi discussed the fundamental drivers of the UAE’s strong trade relations with the European Union, including advanced manufacturing, healthcare, and e-commerce. The two sides also recognized potential to enhance investment in high-growth industries including logistics and renewable energy.
Al Zeyoudi emphasized the UAE’s strong economic and business relations with the European Union, saying, “The European Union is a highly valued trade and investment partner for the UAE, with ties that continue to deepen across a range of sectors.” “This is evidenced not only by increasing trade exchanges, but also by strategic collaboration in areas such as food security, energy transition, and advanced technology.
