The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), which is connected to the Department of Municipalities and Transport, started an electric bus service for public transportation on Zayed the First Street at the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan. Since then, demand for the service has grown. The new service uses a fleet of contemporary electric buses that are intended to offer a more comfortable and effective means of transportation.
Four distinct varieties of electric buses are part of the fleet, including articulated buses with two or three compartments that can carry more people, cut down on wait times, and provide smooth movement.
Three 30-meter-long, 44-seat articulated electric buses with a maximum capacity of 200 passengers each have been used on Zayed the First Street. Furthermore, an 18-meter-long articulated electric bus with 46 seats and a capacity of about 110 passengers has been in operation.
The buses follow a set timetable that accommodates the needs of the passengers. During peak hours, buses leave every 30 minutes; outside of peak hours, they leave every 60 minutes. Starting in Al Reem Mall, the 27-kilometer circuit travels through Zayed the First Street, Al Kasr Marina Mall, and back to the starting point, stopping at 13 stations.
