Apple Claims Some Mac Mini Production will Migrate to the United States

Apple has announced that it will manufacture some of its Mac Mini desktop computers in the United States for the first time, as the technology giant tries to increase domestic production in response to pressure from US President Donald Trump.

On Tuesday, the iPhone maker announced plans for a “significant expansion” of its factory in Houston, Texas, to produce Mac Minis and AI servers. Apple’s latest move comes after the company committed last year to raise its investment in the United States by $600 billion (£445 billion).

The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the expected volume of Mac Mini production in the United States. The niche tiny computers, currently manufactured in Asia, account for less than 5% of Mac sales.

Apple is deeply committed to the future of American manufacturing, and we’re proud to significantly expand our footprint in Houston with Mac mini production beginning later this year,” CEO Tim Cook said in a statement. The company also announced plans for an advanced manufacturing training center at its Houston facility.
