Qatar, which has been a global mediator in recent years, warned Iran, the US, and Israel on Tuesday that since 2023 it has been warning the world about the “catastrophic results we are seeing across the region” and the ensuing global repercussions of the ongoing escalation of the Iran war.
This is the biggest I told you so in the history if I told you sos in the world,” said Dr. Majed Al-Ansari, a spokesman for Qatar’s Foreign Ministry and adviser to the prime minister, in a startling remark to the media in Doha on Tuesday.
Dr. Al-Ansari added that Qatar “said from day one: left unchecked, the escalation that started in 2023 would lead to a regional war” in response to a query from Euronews regarding the echoes of Qatar’s repeated warnings over several months.
Dr. Al-Ansari states that “the course we are going with right now is a very dangerous trajectory for the region and we keep warning that again this left uncovered and conflict moved from discussion rooms to battlefields will lead to even more catastrophic results for the people in the region,” despite Qatar’s belief that the conflict could still be contained.
Dr. Al-Ansari accused Iran of attacking civilian infrastructures in the Gulf and beyond, which not only endangers the region but also “will cause repercussions throughout the world, the ripple effects of attacking the energy facilities in this region.” He stated that Iran must cease its attacks prior to any discussions of a diplomatic settlement.
