A few weeks after Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates revealed his connections to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, billionaire investor Warren Buffett ceased contributing to Gates’ philanthropic foundation.
In 2006, Buffett made a “irrevocable” pledge to donate shares of his company, Berkshire Hathaway, to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation “throughout my lifetime.” However, the Gates Foundation was excluded from the list of companies that will get stock valued at billions of dollars on Thursday.
Instead, the stock will be divided among four Buffett family-affiliated foundations. The 95-year-old stated that he will spend the next eight years selling off his remaining shares.Naturally, mortality is unpredictable,” Buffett remarked. “But my remaining shares will be donated to the four foundations one way or the other by 31 December, 2034.”
When materials from the US Department of Justice were made public in January, it became clear that Gates was connected to Epstein. In his comments on his donations, Buffett did not specifically name Gates or Epstein.
