More than two years after he allegedly stole a denim jacket from a store at the airport shopping centre, Singapore has charged a British man with theft. When a retail clerk at Singapore’s Changi Airport saw a blue denim jacket stolen from a display mannequin on the evening of August 14, 2024, the police were notified of the theft. On camera, a guy was seen taking the jacket, which was estimated to be worth S$350 ($275; £202), off the mannequin and walking out of the store without paying. The individual had left Singapore by the time the authorities were able to identify him.
The 26-year-old was accused on Tuesday after being detained at the airport on August 15 while travelling. “The police take a serious stance of shop theft and will deal firmly with offenders in accordance with the law.”The Singapore Police Force stated in a statement on Monday that criminals shouldn’t think they can avoid detection by just departing Singapore after committing a crime. A 50-year-old Polish lady who had stolen two bottles of perfume from retail establishments inside one of the airport’s terminals on June 11 of this year was also arrested, according to the police statement.
